# Tools

> Every tool the Autoadify MCP server offers, and the permission each needs.

Your assistant only sees the tools your key's permissions allow. Each tool does the same thing as its REST endpoint, with the same validation and errors.

## Account and channels

| Tool | Scope | What it does |
| - | - | - |
| `whoami` | read | The organization, plan, permissions, channel limits and remaining quota of the key. |
| `list_channels` | read | Connected channels with their ids and posting rules (media required, max images, text length, required fields). |

## Posts

| Tool | Scope | What it does |
| - | - | - |
| `create_post` | publish | Schedules a post, or publishes it now when no time is given. Supports per-platform text, media, Reddit and TikTok options. |
| `list_posts` | read | Posts with their status per channel; filter by status, channel or date range. |
| `get_post` | read | One post: status on each channel, live URL, and the error if a channel failed. |
| `update_post` | publish | Edits a scheduled post's text, per-platform text or time. |
| `delete_post` | publish | Cancels a scheduled post. A post already live on a platform stays live. |

## Media

| Tool | Scope | What it does |
| - | - | - |
| `list_media` | read | The media library, searchable by name, alt text and description of what each file shows. |
| `get_media` | read | One file: status, URL, type, size and dimensions. |
| `import_media` | publish | Downloads an image, video or PDF from a public URL into the library. |
| `create_media_upload` | publish | Returns a one-time URL for uploading a local file (useful for agents with a shell, such as Claude Code). |
| `complete_media_upload` | publish | Finishes an upload once the file has been sent. |
| `delete_media` | publish | Deletes a file from the library; refused while a scheduled post uses it. |

## Errors

When a tool can't do what was asked, it returns an error result with the same `code` and `message` as the [REST API](/errors), for example:

```json theme={null}
{ "code": "validation_failed", "message": "Instagram requires an image or video. Attach media or remove that channel." }
```

The message is written so the assistant can fix the request or explain the problem to you.
