# Quickstart

> Create a key, find your channels and schedule your first post in a few minutes.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create an API key">
    In Autoadify, open **Settings → Developers** and click **Create key**. Give it the **Read** and **Publish** permissions.

    Copy the key when it's shown: it starts with `aak_live_` and you won't see it again. Store it somewhere safe, such as a password manager or your tool's secret settings.

    ```bash theme={null}
    export AUTOADIFY_API_KEY="aak_live_..."
    ```
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the key">
    ```bash theme={null}
    curl https://api.autoadify.com/v1/me \
      -H "Authorization: Bearer $AUTOADIFY_API_KEY"
    ```

    You'll see your organization, the key's permissions and your remaining quota.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Find your channels">
    ```bash theme={null}
    curl https://api.autoadify.com/v1/channels \
      -H "Authorization: Bearer $AUTOADIFY_API_KEY"
    ```

    Each channel has an `id`, which you'll use to post, and `rules` telling you what it needs (for example, Instagram requires an image or video).

    ```json theme={null}
    {
      "data": [
        {
          "id": "cm3x9...",
          "platform": "LINKEDIN",
          "name": "Acme",
          "status": "active",
          "rules": { "requiresMedia": false, "maxChars": 3000, "requiredFields": [] }
        }
      ]
    }
    ```
  </Step>

  <Step title="Schedule a post">
    ```bash theme={null}
    curl https://api.autoadify.com/v1/posts \
      -H "Authorization: Bearer $AUTOADIFY_API_KEY" \
      -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
      -d '{
        "content": "We just shipped our API 🚀",
        "channelIds": ["cm3x9..."],
        "publishAt": "2026-10-20T09:00:00+05:30"
      }'
    ```

    Leave out `publishAt` to publish now: the post goes out within about a minute. The response is the post, with a status for each channel. The post also appears in your Autoadify calendar.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check how it went">
    ```bash theme={null}
    curl https://api.autoadify.com/v1/posts/POST_ID \
      -H "Authorization: Bearer $AUTOADIFY_API_KEY"
    ```

    Once published, each channel shows `published` and a `platformPostId`. If a channel failed, its `error` says why.
  </Step>
</Steps>
